Matt's class had a contest for the design of their Valentine's Day card box. Last night Gracie and I were at Kyle's game in Gilroy (more to follow) and Joey and Matt made a slam dunk box. Ok, the artwork has a bit to be desired, but the originality was superb and Matt took second prize. The first prize box had lights etc (oh puhlease). Yay Matt.
Salinas had a chance to clinch a playoff berth last night witha win over Gilroy. It seemed like a lackadaisical (is that a real word, or maybe I just don't know how to spell it) effort and then turned around in the second half. Kyle hit a three to tie it with 2:30 left and then scored inside while a teammate busted another three to put Salinas up by 5. A Gilroy player was injured so the ref called an injury time out and SHS coach motioned for a "30". The SHS bench jumped up and ran out on the floor to congratulate those teammates on the court and the ding dong ref called SHS for a "T" for being on the floor. The other ref said he didn't remember if Coach Chappell called a Time out or not. They (refs) went and talked to the Gilroy coach (flashback to last year when this coach assaulted a ref and told him he would wait for him and *)% him up and kill him). Well the call stood where Gilroy made two free throws and the ball and banked in a three to send it into overtime. SHS scored on the first possession and never led again. The final was 63-62. One more chance on Friday night against power Palma who lost last night to the team Salinas beat by 15 on Friday. Boy, now they will be mad - oh great!
